: I just wnated to know if anyone could tell me if it is known whether or not young toucans eat other birds smaller than themselves? It has been my knowledge that they only eat fruit but someone raised the question to me so I am trying to get an answer. thank you
they can.they are also very territorial and will usealy kill any smaller birds once matured, and yes have them for dinner.when they breed some zoos offer them mice to help them with thier protien need (witch i don't think should be given due to high iron in all meat)if you are breeding i would keep them in a flight by themselfs but if not they can be kept with other birds thier size or larger, but need to be suppervised very closely in case of a fight witch is probably very likely
