Just an update for any of you Rosella lovers interested in improving your birds quality of life.
We have built a 'C' shaped cage attached to the side of our house. The inside cage is connected by a tunnel (all made from 1" hardware cloth). To keep the cold air from coming in the tunnel, we have installed freezer flaps for her to push through.
Point is, even with weather in the 35 degree F range she is out there and just loves it. Fluffs up like a ball and watches the world go by. Or flies some laps in the 9' space.
We were worried at first (how cold can she take it) but she has proven that she can take more than I can. I guess Eastern Rosellas are really from Southern Austrailia??
Point of interest. I can't remember what she ever did before.
I have tried to include a pic link. If it works, you will see the summer version. Winter upgrades include a piece of plywood in the window and cage attached on either side of the freezer flaps.
