Our first rosella- ADVICE AND HELP NEEDED URGENTLY

Approx. 18 month old male, very scared and quiet. Occasional quiet beep beep noise just purchased by us. Need to know:
suitable feeding (?grit for digestion). Don't know if bird has ever been free to fly around (would like him to be). Want to make him finger tame but too scard - is there any hope of this or is he now too old to train? Should I buy a bigger cage and toys. Does he need a female? Apparently he was previously with a female but she flew away.
