You can buy Emu or Ratite pellets at the feed stores.I rescued an Emu this spring and he is friendly. He was fed dogfood where he came from and that is not good because they need the Methionine in the pellets. My suggestion is to find out what they fed the bird before your friend got him and start switching him over gradually until he accepts the emu food. Also, I found out that certain times of the year they eat more than others. But he must eat something! Hope "Big Bird" will soon regain his appetite. Good Luck, Maxie |
