As also stated, you have to be a master falconer to even be considered to have a golden. "considered" is the key term, not every master falconer can be qualified to own one. Balds and Goldens (the only U.S species of eagle) are protected under the Eagle Protection Act. The law is so strict, you cannot even own a feather without proper permits. Owning any raptor takes a ton of commitment. I am a docent with raptors, and just taking care of them on a day to day basis is a ton of work in itself...

:Can anyone give me any info such as what licences you need to own eagles? I always wanted one but would like to do it legaly? Are there any laws governing these birds or can I just go get one and keep it? thanks a million
