: I just adopted a meyers that I named Lemon Drop. He's/shes at least 2 years old. He's friendly and chirps like crazy until I take him out to sit on my shoulder. How do I go about teaching him a few words? Is it too late? I've been feeding him fruit, veg, chicken, salmon (loves it), cheese and whatever i eat as well as seeds and pellets. He especially loves grapes. Is this diet ok? Thanks for any help

Everything sounds good to me. I have had my meyers for 3 months now, and she too loves chicken, fish, pasta, fruit, veggies, grilled cheese, and anything else I put in front of her. As far as talking, I think that any bird can talk if you work with it. Just start with simple works and repeat them over and over again. He will come around. My bird stares at my mouth when I am teaching her to talk, so it may be best to have the bird right in your face when you are teaching it. Good luck!
