: Please Answer
I only keep quails in my aviary as pets, ive never bred them. I bought a pair about three years ago. Recently the hen died out of the blue so I think it was just old age. The cock started making quite loud noises after his mate died, it was quite loud and could be heard through closed double glazing windows at 2:00 am!!!!! So I bought a hen a couple of weeks ago and he hasnt made a noise since, so if you have more than one then there shouldn't be any noise. They have produced 2 eggs so far, but i don't know if they are fertile, I haven't got an incubator so I'll never know. I think you can keep them in cages but if they are pets they may be a bit bored as they like walking around and picking at stuff on the aviary floor. My aviary is a 6 ft by 6 ft hexagon shape and theres plenty of room for quite a few more.
Temprament: They are quite 'flighty' and 'nervous' when i go in the aviary but thats because i dont interact with them much, if you are keeping them as a pet you might handle them more.
I hope i've been some help, but I think it's quite obvious that I'm not very knowledgable in all things Quail. Good luck.
