I've made a play gym recently out of willow branches, stainless steel chain & some toys to decorate it.
It's very easy and quite cheap. You can re-use the hardware used on this gym, and replace the branches with new ones. :-)
My fids have great fun. Even my Senegal, who doesn't play very much is having a ball destroying the branches: actually removing the bark. :-) My too is so busy running around playing with every toy that he seems to forget that he can destroy this gym.. :-)
