Mike:

You are correct that you should not spend more one on one time with your new baby, than you can reasonably expect to spend every "normal" day. Providing a radio for you bird is an excellent idea. Other things that you can do to help the situation, is to include your bird in your morning routine before you leave the house. For instance, let the bird join you in the shower, or for breakfast, etc. Leave healthy food items in the cage that won't spoil quickly. For instance you can core an apple and leave it in the cage whole (minus the core) or head of raw broccoli, etc. Also, have lots and lots of toys on hand and "redecorate" your birds cage weekly. Giving him new and different toys to play with each week. This will help him from becoming bored while you are away. The key to success with birds is variety. I am sure you will do just fine. Good Luck! Shelly
