Macaws are the sweetest, most loving birds I have ever found--if you know how they think. Macaws are naturally "beaky" birds. They explore their entire world with their beak. They will try to intimidate you by "lunging" at you, and if you just stand your ground--you'll have a cuddly puddle of feathers. Often, little birds bite harder than larger birds. Big birds' beaks don't pinch as hard as little birds' beaks. I was afraid of amazons for the longest time, and now I have one of my own!! Macaws can be the same way. You just have to understand them. And yes, macaws make wonderful pets--for the right person. You have to not be a clean-freak, like a little "jungle" noise, and handle a lot of chewing. Macaws are a big, and long time (80 years or more) commitment. Hope this helps!!
