:get the babies when they still are on one hand feeding a day (but partially eating solids too) to make it easier for them to switch to pellets??? My friend's birds eat mainly seed so I don't want to have to switch the babies over to pellets as well as make them deal with the stress of moving....

:
I have always advised against taking a baby bird, any bird, that isn't fully weaned UNLESS you are proficient at handfeeding. Even at an age when fully weaned, it is still easy to introduce new foods, as opposed to a bird that is several years old and has never eaten anything but seed. At that young of an age, it would be easy to moisten the pellets with a little bit of apple juice -- easier to eat, and a little tastier. If you are doing this in conjunction with moving them to your home, warm up the moistened pellets and handfeed with a small baby spoon or your fingers. This will also be a sort of *comfort* food, reminding the young'un that it is loved and safe.
