::Hello. I'm new to lovebird breeding and I have a few questions. What do I need to supply for the nesting. I put some shreaded paper in the cage and put pine shavings in the nest box. Also, what color can I expect the chicks to be. The mother is a peach face, and the father looks like the peach face, except his face is a light grayish color with a yellowish-orange band across his forehead.

:Are your lovebirds in impecable health? Are they both eating a veried diet? Has the hen been eating copiuos amounts of calcium for at least 6 months? Do you know the signs of egg binding or prolapse uterus and what to do for them? Do you have an avian vet that you can call, day or night, if there is a problem? Do you know how to properly handfeed if the parents don't take care of the babies?

:There is a lot of research and knowledged to be learned for sucessful breeding to take place.

:AS far as genetics, I'll defer to the other members, as that is not my strong suit.

I have bred Cockatiels for years now. I am aware of health issues and egg binding etc... I would not go into breeding any type without info and knowledge. Yes the birds have been on a "diet" they are on vitamins and in wonderful health. They have been checked by my vet and she has given me the go ahead. I was tying to get everyone's input on the nesting material. As for genetics, I have no idea how that works. I just know that these are proven breeders that have not had a clutch of eggs in over 6mts. They were given a rest by the previous breeder. Thank you for your input, but in think I got sarcasm instead.
