:Hi again people, this time i wanted to know how to see if my lovebird would want to bathe in a bowl, like how much water would i need to put and what temperature. and also, i wanted to know if bottle sprays are better or just the same..
:sorry about these dumb questions but this is my first bird ever and its like one of the best pets..
:any help would be much appreciated
First off, there is no such thing as a dumb question when we are talking about the care of your fid.
As far as bathing vs. misting, that is generally decided between you and your bird. Some prefer misting, some prefer splashing about. If you do mist, try arcing the water so that it comes down on it's head/back as if standing in a rain shower. This seems to help keep the sprayer enough away so that the sound of the trigger doesn't disturb the bird.
As far as bathing recepticles, there are numerous kinds on the market. Many birds prefer their water dish, some prefer the hodded kind of tub, some like the open dish sort of tub and some like a dish lined with lettuce, and some like to sit in your hands under a lightly dripping faucet. Generally you will find lukewarm water is recommended, however all of my little birds would much rather bathe in (almost ice) cold water. Go fingure!
This is one of those things you will need to experiment with to find what is most favored by your bird.
Let us know what works for you.
