What happened to the other one? Do you know why it died? Did you take the remaining one to the vet to see if he/she was ok? If the remaining one was bonded to the first one, it will probably be loud. You'll just have to be patient and possibly get another one to pair with it.
It could bond to you if you can spend the time and have the patience. It's still very young.
I'd recommend a vet visit first if you haven't already done so.
