Our female pf lovebird Sally is a first time Mom. She laid 4 eggs of which
one hatched yesterday. This morning when I went to check on them, the baby was
not moving. Unfortunately, Sally is very aggressive and mean to her mate Pancho
and tends to fight with him in the nesting box until he escapes and shoots out. Last
night they did some of this before I covered their cage. I was afraid that they would hurt
the baby but didn't remove it.
Is there a chance that the baby has died since attempted to move it and see if it was alive and
it didn't react? If this is the case, what should I do next? How long should I wait to remove it
from the nesting box or will Sally just put it out? Also, what can I do to prevent this from
happening to the other 3 eggs in case they also hatch babies.
Please any help you can give would be very appreciated. This is really stressing me out.
Thanks,
B
