I have had this problem in the past with my lizards. 1st remove all the fruit in the cage, throw it away outside every time. Try a couple of venus flytraps in the room, this actually helped me alot. You could try fly traps that are sold for use in horse stalls. The flies are attracted to the sugar water, fly in, but can't get back out. We have made several of these ourselves with bottles and orange juice, but it is rather difficult to get it right and hard to explain (my boyfriend built them and I didn't believe him when he said they would work, but he grew up on a horse farm so I went with it and it truly worked). I think the main thing is to be extremely diligent when it comes to taking out the trash and keeping the cage clean. Keep all your fruit in the refrigerator. Bananas really shouldn't be refrigerated so I would not buy any bananas until the situation is under control. Fruit flies breed extremely rapidly so any fruit left out even for a couple of days can harbor the eggs and larva, including scraps in your garbage can. Just throw all trash outside and it should clear up fairly quickly. Good luck!

: Help!! I am suddenly infested with fruit gnats. Does anyone else have this problem? How do I get rid of them without hurting my bird? I live where it is really really cold and I don't want to risk getting him sick if I have to remove him from the house. Please help!!!!!!!!!! Thanks
