rehabilitating an abused bird

: are there any lory/keet owners out there : with expereience in rehabilitating birds? : i just recently purchased a poor little rainbow lorikeet : who had been abused and neglected for two years before being brought into the petshop. : he is alot smaller and thinner than rainbows should be. : he had developed feather chewing: : his tail is completely missing, : as well as most of his wing feathers. : a hand about five inches away immediately causes him to scream in terror. : he is also prone to jumping off of perches and flopping about madly on the floor and shreiking at odd hours in the early morning, : even before the sun comes up. : when not hiding in his bird buddy, : he twitches and screams sparodically : as if excpecting something to attack him from behind at any second. : any help and ideas would be gratly appreciated.
