I agree, they do it because it is fun and they get attention. There are several types of clamp down or screw down bowls that you can get.

After using one for a year or so, and getting Sparky out of "dump mode," I bought a new cage that had the heavy ceramic bowls that just sit in a metal ring. He has never dumped one of them.
