I am not an expert, but have read that some breeders think the Timnehs may be slightly calmer than the Congos--less likely to feather pick, etc. But since there are fewer Timnehs kept as pets, the fewer reports of problems with them could be just a function of less reporting.

Also, amateurs such as myself probably lean toward the brighter-colored Congos. And with our lesser experience in bird keeping, we are likely to have a higher number of problems.

So I would say that it really doesn't matter which of the two you select. The important thing is to look for a healthy well-adjusted bird.
