Here is what we feed all of our parrots, from the smallest lovebird to the largest macaws. You change the portions to fit your flock, but keep the ratios about the same. Boil a pot of water. Throw in 2 heapings cups rice and boil 3 minutes. Add 4 lbs. cut frozen mixed vegetables and let sit for 1 minute. Drain and put back in pot. Add 8 cups cockatiel seed, 3 cups Nutracare (or similar vitamin supplement), a small handful of crushed oyster shell, and stir. Sometimes we just use frozen corn instead of mixed vegetables. We have never had to convert a new bird to this, it is always readily accepted, we get good production, and it is great for the parents to feed the chicks. Good Luck! |
