If you'd had no problem before, I'd say it was the lack of food and water. Survival instincts. Since they're so small, they can't store much. They eat and drink often. All day is way too long for them to go with out food and water. Poor thing :( I'm surprised one was still alive.
I hope you're being much more careful now.
