You wrote that two finches of the same sex won't get along. Well, I have a post that was put up a few days after this one asking that question, because one of my two male finches died. It looked like the surviving one was bleeding and its feathers were plucked and a mess! He's much better now, but was he in distraught over the other finches death or did they fight? I want to get him another friend, but I want to know if two males in one cage can get violent enough to kill each other.

:I'd also recommend getting a pair from a finch breeder in your area, rather than a pet store. It's more economical and the finches will be healthier.

:Let us know when you get your birds, and we want to see pictures of them!

:
::I am new to finches, raised and took care of the parrots only.
::What would be the best type of finch to start with as a pet, not for breeding? Which less expensive ones are more vocal? Should I start with the two of them or one is OK?
::Thanks.
