Hello!
I had a pair of Beng. finches but the female died :( (they were my first pair of these finches). the male fortunately is still happy and healthy. I bought another female finch for my male, but I have doubts over the new bird. When I put the new female in the male's cage the male started singing to her. To my surprise the female sang back to the male in the same manner.
I know that in rare occasions, female finches sing just like the males. But she acts just like the male- hopping around and just being perky- that is why I doubt she/he is female. Another question .. do male Beng. finches have a distinguishable song? Or do they vary from bird to bird? The supposed female has a different but simple song (and I don't mean the "teet" sound), unlike the male's which has different high and low tones.
Can someone please help? Thanx!
