I can only relate my personal experience in trying to hand raise zebra finches. When the parents stopped feeding them, I tried to take over, not realizing that the parents were smarter than I. They knew the babies were dying, and they were letting nature take its course. I interferred and caused the babies to have a few more days of suffering before they died. I then decided never to interfere with Nature again.
