I used to have a master falconry license, but haven't had facilities for years.
Saw a rare event in the back yard last week, while sitting on the patio.
A mature redtailed hawk flew right past the fence with a pigeon in his foot!
I got a close look as he went by, then he landed on a telephone pole behind the house.
Got quite a nice view with binoculars. The pigeon put up a terrific fight, but was finally
subdued. Clench, clench! I've seen redtails around here with kittens, but a pigeon is certainly
worth mention! People up the street feed the feral pigeons and you often see them strutting
around. I figure this hawk saw a good opportunity and seized it.
It was pretty cool!
