"For some time now there has not been a specialty organization representing
the Eclectus parrots. Planning such an organization has been going on for
months and as of May 1, 2000, the Eclectus Group became a formal society.
The
Eclectus Group is a not-for-profit service organization for breeders of
Eclectus parrots.

The Eclectus Group is extending an invitation to breeders of Eclectus
parrots
to join this Internet network. The Eclectus Group's mission is to provide
reliable information to members concerning diet, housing, husbandry,
health,
disease, subspecies identification and management, and to represent the
interests of the Eclectus subspecies in an official capacity. Please visit
our new website at: http://members.xoom.com/eclectusgrp

The Eclectus Group is directed by a six member Board of Directors: Constance
Bacon, Joe Baker, Laurella Desborough, David Ivey, Cathy Kelly, and Gloria
Scholbe. Our overseas consultant is Graham Taylor from Australia, and our
veterinary advisor is Dr. Brian Speer, certified avian specialist.

The Eclectus Group serves as the official contact for breeders of Eclectus
parrots to BIRDCOOP. (BIRDCOOP is the forum where representatives from the
American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA) and representatives from
various
psittacine societies exchange information and coordinate for the long term
management of psittacine species in the US)

Membership in the Eclectus Group is open to the following:
1) individuals or organizations who breed Eclectus parrots
2) zoo bird curators and keepers working with Eclectus parrots
3) scientists interested in or working with Eclectus parrots.

Currently there is no membership fee.

Communication within the Eclectus Group will be primarily by email. If a
member does not have access to email, then he/she can use a fax or phone or
regular mail. Persons wishing to become members of the Eclectus Group
should
communicate with Gloria Scholbe, Membership Chair, via email:
globird@tenmegs.com, via phone: 920-826-7478. All membership information
will
remain confidential unless the member decides otherwise.
