I just put some pictures of my visit to Dutch parrot refuge on my site. It was awesome! They have a lori acker for birds that cannot fly due to their wings have been burned. (Something like clipping but then burning.. Don't know how to call it) and a huge aviary where you can walk through, feeding the parrots nuts. Also a huge aviary with lots of lovebirds, parakeets etc. that you can feed... It is all too much to name!
Some stories that have been pasted on the cages are really sad. For example about the macaw that misses one eye: his eye had been stabbed out with a pencil by kids. His owner just put him in the basement and the only way he could find his food was when the door opened when she had to get another ehmmm barrel (??) of beer. (She owned a cafe as I reminded)
Or that of a moluccan too that has been put away because his female owner had to choose between her moluccan and her boyfriend.
These stories really made me sad...
Not all the pics are up yet (just 30) but I will put them all up very soon.
To everyone who has the chance to visit this wonderful place, please do so!
