Hi,

You do not need to add gravel, however you are feeding him wrong. Pick up some "Kaytee brand All Baby Bird Feeding Formula" and tube-feed him that. Get a catheter with a plunger tube and fill it will the formula, then hold the birds beak open with one hand (if he doesn't open his mouth), and gently insert it down his throat. Make sure you go to his right side (the left if the trachia and will drown him). Feed this every 4 hours until he is a fledgling and then just feed during the day while weaning.
