Help!! SICK DOVE

Help! I dont know anything about birds. My best friend works at a nursing home. They have a large avairy with mult doves. One of the doves is very sick. The nursing home she worked for refused to care of this sick animal. So we scraped up all the money we had and took it to the vet. But, the vet seemed very unhelpful. She didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. Her conclussion was that there was nothing we could do for the bird. Just to make it comportable til it dies.
But, we just feel like there as got to be something we should at least try. The vet seemed to not know what she was talking about. She didnt know anything about birds. And massively overcharged us at the same time. It was unbelievable. She didnt much of anything and charged us close to 175 dollars.
So we dont have money to take it to a different vet. My hope from this is to see if anyone has any suggestions on what to do:
Here is what is going on: Diarrhea, Poor Feather Health, Feathers all Fluffed up, Not Flying(sitting on floor of cage), seems to be eating and drinking ok, clear lungs,and no parasites seen in the fecal cytology.

So far we are giving it subqu fluids once a day and keeping it warm. Is there any thing else? Please Help!!
