afraid to release mourning dove

I am caring for a baby mourning dove that fell from the nest. There were two, but one didn't survive. I tried putting them both back in the nest, but it was so cold that I didn't want to take a chance on the parents returning in time. Only one survived after I brought them in the house. I have been caring for the survivor for about 13 days now and it seems very undersized, but it is growing. My problem is I know I have to release it eventually but I just can't bring myself to do so. I have become very attached to "Sweetie Bird" and am afraid that it can't survive in the wild. What can I do? Someone with a similar experience please help. Thanks.
