My neighbor just rescued an all white dove that was sure to be killed by 3 cats. The dove was on the ground and could not seem to fly. I now have the dove living in my upstairs den (no cage). He(?) has been there a day and is eating some cracked corn. I know nothing about birds and need help. He seems very tame. He is now doing a little flying and actually tried to get out a closed window. How do I know if or when I should let the bird go. Anyway to tell if he was someone's pet or a wild bird who just got temporarily hurt and needs some time to recuperate? What should I be feeding him? Thanks for any help.
