Hey everyone,
Let me explain the story. "Niblet" I got when she was still needing bottle feed, then I thought she needed company when I was at school.
Well, I bought a male"Pretty Boy" and female"Pidge", brother/sister. They were in a huge cage, given varied food & toys, and fresh air. I loved them all dearly. Then I found Pretty Boy weezing. I rushed him to the vet, they gave me my choices A)stress him out with multiple invasive tests+spend thousands+which might not even fix it, or B)put him to rest.
I cried for a week & it still makes me teary. The theory was he inhaled a seed, a seed!, something so simple could have been avoided... Now I wished I'd researched more & avoided seeds at all. After that his buddies were looking at me like "What happened??", his sister was worried.
I decided to admit I couldn't give them the play attention I used to, so I sold them to a nice retired family where someone will be home all day. I still feel like a "deadbeat parent" sometimes. Maybe volunteering with a shelter would help.
ahh anyway thanks for any advice :) I still love cockatiels they are the coolest birds!
