:I want to get a chick, but my mom won't let me because she says if it grows up to be a rooster, we'd have to get rid of it because they make to much noise. Is there a way to find out the gender of a chick while its still yellow and fuzzy? all help is appreciated greatly!!
I'm afraid I don't know of any way that could be easily described here, or more importantly, that could be easily used. You may have to try and get one that is a little older and at that point you can usually tell them apart because the young males will normally have a more prominent comb on their heads than the females. However, keep in mind that even hens make plenty of noise, and if you aren't out on a farm where noise isn't going to be a problem, it may be better to settle with visiting someone elses farm!
