I have just been given a senior male canary and he has a respiratory problem. He wheezes, breaths very fast, panting and sometimes gaping. The degree of these symptons varies over the day. When he sleeps, he appears normal except the breathing is fast. He eats and drinks normally and has no nasel discharge or diahhrea. I previously had three canaries and he came with two others - one of which looks like she may be coming down with the same problem. She is a year old and her breathing just seems to be a little fast (panting) with not the severe symptoms of the male. I have tried Ornacyn-Plus from the local pet store. One week of treatment with no improvement. Does anyone have any suggestions?
