If the male and female are together, they will mate, and the male won't sing, because he already has the female! So if you want a singing canary, let the male be alone!

:Thanks! do you know of any canary caresheets, thought? because telling my mom 'i read it on the forum' doesn't really sound like a reliable source lol. and... will they mate if you have a male and a female in the same cage? i don't think i have room/time for baby birds
