Yesterday, I brought home a healthy baby (sparrow?) that seems to have fallen from a next onto a bustling NYC sidewalk. It is remarkable tame (for a wild bird) and I've been hand feeding it banana, and attempts at canary seed. It is currently in a cage, though prefers to sit on my shoulder or finger. Today it is very perky and quite cute attempting 3 inch high leaps into flight. My original plan was to keep it until it is strong enough to fly high, and able to feed itself (hopefully 1 week or less) My concern is whether it will survive if I let it go. ( I would release it in Central Park)

Any one have any info on this matter?
