Try Scott's Song Food. It's a very good brand, since i have been giving it to my bird, he sings constantly, it is now 12:30 AM (midnite) and he's singing his heart out. 2 males CAN NOT live together, they will fight. try a female, sometimes that encourages singing also. also, sometimes males won't sing if another male is anywhere near it. If she does want another, put them in seperate ends or floors of the house.
I've never heard of molting lasting 6 months either... try a moulting food to help it along and brighten it's colors when its done. Peak Health Formula works well. It's also a nesting formula that may encourage the need to breed, which may encourage singing.
: My mother's canary sang a lot when she got it early last year. It has not sung much in the last 6 months or so. She says it seems to be molting all the time, and they do not sing when they molt. Can anyone suggest what may be the problem. She is very disappointed that it is not singing. Any help would be appreciated. Also, she is thinking of getting another male canary. Can they be put in the same cage? Thanks in advance.
