Charle-- Birds inherently love drama, and therefore it tickles them pink to make their owners scream and yell--even in pain. They cannot differentiate from "I love you so much!" and "What the hell did you just do to my finger--get off!" That means when they bite you have to make sure you say "No" or "Stop that" firmly but quietly. The most important thing is to look the bird in the eye when you say it. This "evil eye" technique simulates the look of a predator, and therefore is most effective. Don't worry, it won't scare the bird if you make sure eye contact is not held for more than a few seconds.I hope this helps your relationship with Topi. If you want, I can give you the titles of some excellent books about more bird behavior and how to interpret it to your advantage. Birdlover
