Strange behavior of male canary

hello everyone. I have a pair of canary, and the hen has been sitting on 4 eggs for a week. I notice while the hen is out for a short period of time to feed herself, the cock jumps into the nest and pretend to be a hen. He makes funny noises to call out to the hen but she apparently doesn't care. They switch role again when she's ready and everything else goes back to normal. Is this a normal behavior of canary cocks??? Would he harms the eggs in any way? should i remove him just for the safety of it. Please give me some advices. thanks
