Greenwings are great birds but require a lor of space, time, and money (especially for toys). The biggest problem with large macaws is their size - even large macaw cages aren't big enough for them to spread their wings once you put some hanging toys in (a GW ca have a 4 foot wingspan). So a GW would have trouble being left alone for a long time just from lack of exercise. And they are loud.
You might want to consider an Amazon or mini macaw (if noise isn't a problem) or an Eclectus. All are different. Amazons and Eclectus are generally pretty independent though they still love attention, while mini macaws are a little more needy but still would be fine with you being gone during the day if they get enough attention when you're home.
