Hi Mike, Yellow napes are great. They are smart and easy to teach to talk. The downside is that, like most amazons, they can be quite temperamental. Specially males.
What are you looking for in your first bird? I find that cockatiels are very rewarding, don't need or demand as much attention, and also learn to talk and do tricks. Amazons are very smart and if not given the desired amounts of attention, may have difficult to deal with behavioural problems. (screaming, feather plucking, biting). It depends on what you want and the amount of time you have for socializing your bird. L~

: HI! My names is mike, I have been reading up on the yellow-naped amazonand it sounds great. Would it be good for a first time bird owner???
